During the iCULTURE project meeting in Split University, Renewable & Sustainable Energy Lab (ReSEL@TUC) developed and coordinated the session:
Deep Dive into LCA: Boundaries, Allocation
& Waste Modelling
The session
brought together ALGAIA - JRS Group, Norwegian University of Science and
Technology (NTNU), CeBiTec - Center for Biotechnology (Bielefeld University),
Ulm University, and Alginor ASA for a technical exchange on #LifeCycleAssessment (LCA).
Moderated by Theocharis Tsoutsos, Prof. Dr. and Christos Nikoloudakis, the discussion unpacked:
•
Cradle-to-Gate vs Cradle-to-Grave boundaries
•
Allocation methods: mass, economic, energy, and system expansion
•Modellingg
residual waste streams with transparency and scientific rigor
Insights from ReSEL@TUC highlighted the
importance of scenario sensitivity and regional data granularity, while ALGAIA
- JRS Group and Polar Algae emphasised the role of bio-based systems in the
circular economy.
Christos
was acknowledged as the most complete report keeper among all workshop reports!
Grateful for the successful plan and Implementation to Nadi Bar, #NTNU, agriculture initiator and coordinator, as well as to Ivo Ugrina, Intellomics, for the very efficient organisation and facilitation of the meeting. Also thankful for the active cooperation and development of new ideas among all project partners.
